Cast of the film by Lisa Frankenstein | POPSUGAR Entertainment

Zelda Williams, daughter of the late Robin Williams, is set to make her directorial debut, and she’s off to a strong start with a “zomb-com.” Deadline reports that her upcoming film, “Lisa Frankenstein,” will star “Riverdale” star Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton, who is best known for her performance in “Big Little Lies.” The film will also reunite Diablo writer Cody and producer Mason Novick, who have previously collaborated on films such as “Jennifer’s Body” and “Juno.”

Scheduled to begin filming this summer, the film will center on “an unpopular high school girl who accidentally resuscitates a handsome Victorian corpse during a thunderstorm and begins to rebuild him into the man of her dreams using the broken tanning bed in her garage.” Williams tweeted how grateful she was to be able to begin production on what she described as “the craziest, most wonderful zombie script I’ve ever read.” She added: “I had three movies that fell apart before that, because movies often do. It was disheartening, to say the least. But the fact that this one had survived and flourished to be my first? A fucking gift ♥️.”

There’s no set release date for ‘Lisa Frankenstein’ yet, though Sprouse has yet to wrap up the final season of ‘Riverdale,’ and Newton appears in Marvel’s upcoming ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’. . But knowing the kind of heart and humor the Williams family is famous for, this should be a movie well worth the anticipation.
