Ender’s gaming movie site shares messages from the international fleet
One day before the scheduled online start of the first Ender’s match trailer, the film’s website is live. IF-Sentinelle.com encourages fans to “stay informed” while sharing background information that explains the world in which the story takes place, including the “International Fleet,” which serves as the sole government organization to manage the planet, and what it does means to be a “third”, which applies to the main character, Ender Wiggin.
Ender’s match is directed by Gavin Hood and based on a beloved sci-fi novel by Orson Scott Card. The story takes place in the future when humans prepare for war against an alien race. The new website does a great job of providing us with some background information on the part of the story through smart little press releases from the international fleet, including one that involves a mission statement, and another which talks about population control laws that prohibit families from having more than two children – with exceptions. Those who have read the book know that Ender is a “third” among his family. As the the site explains, “third parties” are rare exceptions when parents are allowed to have an additional child beyond the first two. “Extraordinary circumstances deserve exceptions,” the site explains, giving instructions on how to begin the application process.
Another page talks about the first war, and refers to the great Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), the lost hero of the war, “who saved mankind in an act of unparalleled bravery”. And another page focuses on Application documents for tactical school for parents of potential candidates for the training school.
The new website follows the announcement of the Ender’s match trailer will debut online tomorrow (May 7) during a live Google Hangout starring director Gavin Hood, producer Roberto Orci and star Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender in the film. Butterfield and her co-star Harrison Ford made the introduction to the trailer released last week, which gave us a quick preview of the film, which hits theaters on November 1.
