Scream 5 release date | Film casting, trailer, news

It doesn’t take long to find out who is behind the Ghostface mask in the latest installment in the Scream franchise, this time titled – wait – Scream.

It’s been a rough road for the slasher movie, which was originally confirmed as early as 2011, before appearing to be scrapped after The Weinstein Company studio closed in 2018.

However, a January 2022 release date for the movie Paramount Pictures, which was directed by Ready or Not director duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, was subsequently confirmed and it appears to have stuck in the air. .

And that’s not all. With several both new and returning stars signed to appear in the new Scream, it looks like there is a lot to look forward to.

Perhaps most excitingly, Neve Campbell’s involvement in the film has finally been confirmed, which means she will once again star alongside David Arquette and Courtney Cox.

“We had a lot of fun on the first one, it was really like being in summer camp,” David Arquette said recently during an appearance on Good Morning America. And it’s like we got back together, it was always the same like we went back to summer camp. It’s an explosion.

Speaking about her character, Neve Campbell added, “She’s a mother now, which I think gives her a whole new level of ferocity. She’s happy and of course chaos ensues because it’s a Scream movie… That’s all you want from a Scream movie. I don’t think people will be disappointed.

Exciting things. But who are the returning characters in Scream and does the movie have a release date? Here’s all you need to know.

The first reviews for the new Scream movie have arrived – and they’re overwhelmingly positive.

“The new Scream is a BLAST and my favorite since the original. There’s some sharp writing here – a nice balance of well-crafted scares and fun commentary on modern horror. It also pokes fun at itself a lot. , while remaining a bloody thriller and a hell of a good time. I’m a fan! ” tweeted Erik Davis of the fandango.

Bloody Disgusting critic Meagan Navarro has also been raving about the film and has been shared on Twitter: “What a welcome return to Woodsboro Scream! A bloody, cutting-edge introspection into the genre and legacy of Wes Craven. All the thrills and kind of hell start until 2022. My horror heart is so full. “

Additionally, Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub called the new Scream “the real deal.”

“The new Scream is the real deal,” he tweeted. “Such a well-written storyline that leaves you guessing and wades through the treacherous waters of fandom in 2022. Scream fans will love it.”

What is the release date of Scream 5?

As revealed in a tweet sent by Scream’s official Twitter account in August 2021, the fifth installment of Scream is set to hit theaters on. January 14, 2022.

The delayed release date announcement was accompanied by a gruesome moving poster (below) featuring the Ghostface spectral mask, which a different killer dons in each of the Scream films.

This means the film will be released more than 26 years after the franchise’s first film hit theaters. Better late than never, eh?
