“The Baby-Sitters Club” Casting Netflix vs Old Show, Movie Cast

It’s hard to be cynical in the face of the onslaught of nostalgic reimagining when Netflix The babysitters club, which is now in its second season, is so good. Seriously, I’m not even sorry that every aspect of my childhood was undermined and restarted! The show offers a contemporary take on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling book series and is in particular a reboot of the 1990 HBO series (which garnered a significant following during its syndication on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel). The new cast has incredible BFF chemistry and will give you everything warm and fuzzy with their hilarious and heartfelt adventures. But don’t worry, 90s kid purists, they still use a landline.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the original series or new to the Babysitters Club universe, you might be curious to see how the new cast stacks up against the original. Like everything Babysitters Club fans know, Kristy is the creator and president of the club and the protagonist of the series. She is played by Sophie Grace in the Netflix reboot – and 2020 Kristy is accompanied by a canine friend, as Sophie said Seventeen!

“Honestly, it could have been the highlight of the whole season,” she said. “This dog was the cutest dog I have ever met, and I was able to carry little treats in my pocket so he could follow me.”

Xochitl Gomez as Dawn Schafer

Dawn, the “acting officer” of the Baby-Sitters Club, is played by Xochitl Gomez in the remake. Previous incarnations of the character were white, so Dawn’s recast as a Woman of Color is a particularly exciting move for this version.

“I think it is important that this be shown because there are not a lot of Latinas girls. [on TV]”said Xochitl Seventeen. “So I feel like having him as a character is really great and can really open doors. It’s wonderful that they included a Hispanic family in the story.

Kyndra Sanchez as Dawn Schafer

You may notice that Season 2 of the Netflix series has a new Dawn. Xochitl Gomez had to jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – she plays the teenage intergalactic superheroine Ms. America Chavez in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, NBD.

So, a new actor has stepped into Dawn’s place, environmentally conscious (I guess Birkenstocks) for season 2. Lucky for us, Kyndra Sanchez doesn’t skip a beat!

In both books and the Netflix adaptation, Jessi is a dancer. She goes to another school to concentrate on ballet.

This casting track is a real ’90s double nostalgia. Alicia Silverstone — yes, it is. DistraughtDear Horowitz to you, has joined the cast of the reboot as Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, Kristy’s mother.

“It was really nice watching the little girl (Sophie Grace) playing my daughter,” said Alicia. Marie Claire of his experience working on the show. “She works a lot harder than me. I watched her grow up as an actress, and it was really fun to watch. I really saw her change. In the end, I was so proud of her.

In the original show, Elizabeth was played by Ann Dowd, who is now widely known and feared by television fans as the The Handmaid’s Taleis Aunt Lydia. In the film, she was played by Brooke Adams.
